Protesters in Mexico City have blocked a 6-mile stretch by camping out along Reforma and Juarez Avenues, as
well as in and around the Zocalo Plaza. The
plantón or sit-in has caused no impact in the original outcome of the
July 2 presidential election. The sit-in has crippled, instead, the traffic and the economy along this important
tourism district, causing a huge loss in revenue and jobs. This photo-essay shows cultural aspects of the sit-in.
