Salvador Reza Senate Arrest Press Conference
Salvador Reza who runs the Phoenix-based Puente Movement, and Anayanse Garza, a member of
the group, held a press conference to provide details about his arrest by police attached to the
Arizona State Capitol. Accompanied by his attorney Stephen Montoya, Reza and other community
leaders denounced what they say was an abuse of power by State Senator Russell Pearce, who
ordered police to not let Reza enter the Senate building. The arrest and press conference followed
two days of senate hearings, where Reza and his group were present to oppose
immigration-related bills. According to security and Pearce, Reza's group were disruptive and
clapping their hands during the hearings. Montoya announced during the press conference that his
client will take further legal actions. Salvador Reza is one of the leading organizers in Phoenix. This
was the third time he was arrested in less than a year.
